This is a great report on H-1B visas. The United States government only issues 85,000 of these highly sought after visas a year. The visa entitles the recipient to live and work in the United States for a period of six years. However, in order to obtain one, the prospective recipient must be sponsored by an employer. The story aired on the NBC Nightly News on March 4, 2011. The report highlights the positive contributions of highly skilled immigrants who contribute to the workforce in a myriad ways. Conversely, the report also focuses on those highly skilled professionals who studied here and are often forced to take their talents elsewhere due to tightened immigration policies.
